Ok, I'm not very computer savvy and I'm trying to install a new printer driver for my laptop. I need it done ASAP and I don't want to screw this up. How can I do it painlessly? Well you're in luck! This article will tell you how. First thing's first: make sure your computer is turned on and plugged in with the power cord. Now open up Control Panel from the Start menu, click Device Manager, navigate to Printers, pull down the window that says "Local Printers". Locate your device then double-click that name from there. You should get a dialogue box that looks like this: Look at the bottom. Looks like the printer is not working. Why? Well, let's guess. Does it say "Keyboard Error" or something? If so, you need to troubleshoot it before you install the new driver. See Troubleshooting Printer Problems for more about this topic. Otherwise, scroll down to "Update Driver" and click it. Now choose "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)". Now in the next window click "Don't Search, I will select my driver software". In the window that pops up, click "Browse my computer for driver software". In the next window click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". Now you should see a list of drivers for your printer. Pick your printer and click Next. Now just follow the prompts and install the driver.
